We are Broadway Studio Orchestra and we love Musical Theatre, it's as simple as that, and that's why we decided to start making (what we consider to be) the best sounding backing tracks in the world for some of the greatest pieces of Musical Theatre ever written.
Our team is made up of Orchestrators, Sound Designers, Musical Directors and Actors who all work in the Musical Theatre industry around the world and we all got sick of listening to the same old tired, "Casio keyboard" backing tracks that performers have to use - because there is no other alternative. To us, Musical Theatre is some of the most beautiful and complex writing in the world and so it deserves to be performed with a backing track that adds to that performance and doesn't sound like it comes from a Drum Machine in the 1980s (unless it's the Phantom of the Opera Overture, in which case that is exactly what it is).
We are passionate about realism, it's as simple as that and we have spent years perfecting a workflow that gets your tracks sounding as close to a pit band in your Living Room (or wherever else you like to sing) as possible. Can I request a song?
While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to make every request that gets sent to us, we would love to know what songs and shows you want tracks for. So get in touch with us and we will try and make it happen for you as quick as possible.
Can you change the keys or tempos of the songs?
100%. If you would like a song transposed up or down or the speed adjusted so it fits your performance better, drop us an email after you have made your purchase with details of what you would like changed and we will see what we can do for you!
Do you have the rights to sell these tracks?
Absolutely. We have an SG6 & a PROL License with PRS, which ensures that all of the original creators of these shows are receiving royalties every time a track is purchased. It was so important to have this license as we want to make sure that those who make the shows we love are receiving the credit and fees due to them for putting the work in at the beginning.
Can I record my album with these tracks?
That depends. If it is an album for your own personal use or a showreel which won't be put on sale - go for it (be sure to tag us in it on social media so that we can hear it). If the album is for commercial release we do allow our tracks to be used but please contact us in advance so we can organise release agreements and other boring legal stuff.
Can I use the tracks for a public performance?
Of course! Concerts/gigs/revue shows/singing in the shower with our tracks is all completely fine and actively encouraged, however please make sure you are staying within the guidelines of "permitted excerpts" as defined by PRS. We do not endorse any unlicensed productions and we encourage you to check with the rights holders if you are worried about overstepping the rules.
I Bought The Wrong Track, Can I Get A Refund?
Unfortunately, no... Quite simply because you can't return a digital download. Sorry! In purchasing the tracks you are waiving your right to the 14-day cooling off period as defined by the Consumer Rights Act (2015). We would advise you to check the song you need matches the version you require by heading to our Youtube channel and listening to your track in full there before purchasing.
If you have purchased a track that is malfunctioning please let us know and we will investigate and resend a link as quickly as we can.
